What’s Your Money Personality? TAKE the QUIZ

frequently asked questions

Please Note: I am not a credit counselor or investment planner, and I do not advise people on products or vehicles for their money. Rather, money coaching is a process that addresses long-standing financial behaviors and beliefs and focuses on helping people create sustainable change.

How do we get started?

To get started, simply book a free discovery call. There is no charge for this. I want to be certain we are a good fit for each other. You can tell me about yourself and ask me questions. I’ll have lots of questions for you too. If we decide to work together, we will work via Zoom.

What do I need to bring to a first session?

At our first session, we’ll do an intake. I’ll ask you questions, and we’ll talk about your story, where you’ve been and where you want to go. Then we will figure out exactly where to start in our process. I ask that clients bring very little to a first session. I have so many questions and topics to cover that we will likely not have time to go through anything you bring with you. Just come.

How long are sessions?

Sessions last 60 minutes. Occasionally, we may decide to do a longer session. Couple’s sessions can be extended to 90 minute sessions if we feel more time is beneficial.

I have a small business. Which should I work on, my personal finances or my small business finances?

Great question. This is a question we will explore in our first session and decide together before our second session. Some business owners start off looking at business finances and then progress to looking at their personal finances as well. It can also be helpful to start with your personal finances, so you can see how much money you need and want to earn.

Do you work with men?

Yes, I do! While I am known for my work on women’s money issues, I’ve had many wonderful men as clients.

Do you work with couples?

I maintain a limited number of couple’s appointments. Email Mikelann@seattlemoneycoach.com to find out if I currently am taking new couples.

Please review the post on money coaching with couples to see if we could be a fit.

What are your typical client hours?

My client hours are Tuesday through Thursday, from 9am to 3pm Pacific Standard Time.

What is the cost?

I will discuss costs with you when we meet. I do not list costs on my website. However, please know that new clients work with me via a multi-session coaching package that is designed to support you as you put in place new ways of looking at your money. During these sessions you will learn how to exit the money fog, effectively plan your cashflow, reduce anxiety, and explore your mindset around money. I do not charge by the hour.

Do you take insurance?

No, there is no insurance available that covers private money coaching.

What is the difference between financial coaching and financial planning?

There are important distinctions between a financial coach and a financial planner. Please read this blog post for a full picture.

Can you make other referrals?

Yes, I often make other referrals. Sometimes it is to financial planners and psychotherapists. I can also refer you to a different money coach to find the perfect fit for you.
